Discontent towards democracy has prompted the study of the leadership in representative institutions from the point of view of human capital. The essay puts forward a qualitative method for the analysis of the political profile of 382 federal representatives from the National Action Party (PAN) and the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), members of the LXI Legislature. The analysis takes into consideration, among other variables, their professional competencies, career and political experience. Main findings suggest a tight relationship between political careers and possible improvements in representative democracy.Downloads
