Construir la “sociedad civil”
interpretaciones del discurso civil en una organización confesional

Este artículo explora cómo una asociación civil logra ser reconocida como tal de manera performativa. Mediante revisión documental, entrevistas y acompañamiento etnográfico se reconstruye el detrás de escena y performance civil de una organización de raíz evangélica en colonias populares del Estado de México, así como las interpretaciones que se generan entre sus públicos. Se argumenta que la asociación traduce los valores evangélicos en un guion civil que resume en los eslóganes “cambiar el chip”, “trabajar con la gente” y “abrirse a la sociedad”. Este guion le permite desarrollar un trabajo que la diferencia de las organizaciones políticas con presencia en la zona. Las interpretaciones de este performance entre sus públicos van más allá de la aceptación o el rechazo, mostrando las tensiones que genera el guion y performance de la asociación.Descargas
