UNA TEORÍA POSTCOLONIAL DE MÉXICO, WALT-MART Y LA IDEA DE PROGRESO. LA INVASIÓN DE LOS WAL-MARCIANOS

El concepto “progreso” no tiene un significadounívoco. No obstante, ha sido (ab)usado para justificar, primero, la subyugacióncolonial y luego las prácticas postcoloniales.El uso del concepto en relacionesinternacionales permite que la relaciónasimétrica entre los eu y México seperpetúe, por medio del tlcan y las compañíasmultinacionales que han obtenidoacceso a los mercados extranjeros porla vía de este tratado. La prevalecientenoción occidental de progreso implica elejercicio del neoliberalismo y, consiguientemente,el consumismo. El mejor ejemplode conducta postcolonialista es la invasiónde Wal-Mart en México. Su eslogan“precios bajos siempre” hace creer que sullegada significa progreso, mientras quesus sueldos bajos y sus prácticas sofocantesimpiden que el país pueda lograr uncrecimiento auto-estimulado. La mayoríade las ganancias sigue una vía unidireccionalhacia los Estados Unidos, manteniendola asimetría entre los países limítrofes.Downloads
