Abstract

“América Latina constituye, todavía, un enigmaa sus propios ojos. ¿Qué imagen nos devuelve elespejo? Una imagen rota. Pedazos. Pedazos desconectadosentre sí: un cuerpo mutilado, una carapor hacer. Y estamos entrenados para escupir elespejo”. Con estas palabras iniciaba Eduardo Galeanosu intervención en el Quinto Encuentro deCiencias Sociales realizado en el marco de la FeriaInternacional del Libro de la Universidad de Guadalajara,en noviembre de 1991. A 15 años de distancia,esta cita de Galeano resulta pertinenteporque la añeja idea sobre la posibilidad de integraciónlatinoamericana permea el libro queestamos comentando.
